Consumer complaints can reveal far more than individual problems. They can identify recurring issues, expose gaps in education and oversight, and help regulators understand where stronger consumer protection may be needed. Following the Auditor General of Ontario’s 2022 audit, RECO introduced a more detailed system for categorizing and analyzing complaints. The next question is whether this improved data is leading to measurable change and better outcomes for consumers.
